Residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics
Our medical physics residency program has applied for CAMPEP accreditation and hopes to be accepting residents soon.
The Program
The CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency program’s primary goal is to offer clinical training opportunities for students wishing to become clinical medical physicists. The 24-month training program is designed to meet existing professional standards for medical physics residency programs. The residency program is based in Central Connecticut and will provide residents with the training required to become skilled medical physicists.
The resident will complete 10 rotations at facilities within approximately 30 minutes of the main site. The residency program offers exposure to a wide array to treatment modalities and technology including:

Linacs: Varian, Elekta, & Cyberknife

Treatment Planning Systems: Eclipse w/ Radformation, Raystation, Monaco, and Oncentra

R&V: Mosaiq

HDR: Nucletron and Varian

Fusion Software: Velocity and MIM

QA Equipment: SunCheck, SNC 3D & 1D Tanks, ArcCheck, SRSMapCheck, ICP with QuadWedges, plus a wide variety of other SunNuclear and IBA QA equipment.

Radiopharmaceutical Therapies: 177Lu and 223Ra

Education requirements:

Candidates must hold a CAMPEP-accredited degree (MS or PhD) in Medical Physics, OR a PhD in physics or a related discipline and a CAMPEP-accredited certificate in Medical Physics.

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree with a major in Physics OR an undergraduate degree with a major in a related field (engineering or another physical science), with at least 3 advanced-level physics courses

Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the initial application process; formal job offer will be contingent upon official transcripts. Salary and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with information published in the AAPM professional salary survey. Residents are employees of AMPS and are provided with the same healthcare benefits as employees, including Health, Dental and Vision Insurance. Employer contributions to AMPS retirement plans do not apply to residents.
